Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information GenieStudio collects when you use our website and app, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run the Service and bill you, we don’t sell your data, and your prompts, scripts and voice samples are yours.
Who is responsible
The data controller for the Service is [Legal entity name], [Registered business address] (“GenieStudio”, “we”). Contact us about privacy at hello@geniestudio.us with the subject “Privacy”.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored hashed) and, for teams, the names and emails of members you invite.
- Billing details: your plan, billing address and transaction history. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor; we receive only a token, the card type and the last four digits.
- Content you submit: prompts, scripts, images, footage, audio and brand assets you upload, and the settings you choose (voice, length, style).
- Voice samples: if you use voice cloning, the audio recording you provide and the voice model created from it.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through support.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: which features you use, videos generated, minutes used, errors and performance data.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy.
Generated content
The scripts, narration, visuals and videos the Service produces for you (“Output”) are stored in your account so you can review, edit and download them.
How we use information
| Purpose | Examples | Legal basis (where required) |
|---|---|---|
| Providing the Service | Creating your account, generating videos from your prompts, storing your projects, processing payments | Contract |
| Support | Answering questions, fixing problems with your videos | Contract, legitimate interests |
| Improving the Service | Understanding which features are used, fixing bugs, measuring performance | Legitimate interests |
| Security and abuse prevention | Detecting fraud, enforcing our Acceptable Use Policy, protecting accounts | Legitimate interests, legal obligation |
| Communication | Service emails (receipts, renewal reminders, security notices) and, with your consent, product news | Contract, consent |
| Legal compliance | Tax records, responding to lawful requests | Legal obligation |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your prompts, scripts, uploads or voice samples to train models for other customers.
Automated processing and AI providers
To generate your videos we send your prompts, scripts and relevant uploads to third‑party providers of artificial‑intelligence models (for text, speech and image or video generation) and to media libraries. These providers process the data on our behalf under contracts that limit its use to providing the service to us and that require appropriate security. We choose providers whose terms do not allow them to use customer content to train their models, or we disable such use where a setting exists.
The Service does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you based solely on automated processing.
Voice data
A voice sample can identify you, so we treat it with extra care. We only create a cloned voice when you ask us to and confirm that the voice is yours or that you have permission from its owner. Voice samples and voice models are used only to narrate your own videos, are stored encrypted, are never shared with other customers and are deleted within 30 days when you delete the voice or close your account. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the voice in your account.
How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Service: cloud hosting and storage, AI model providers, payment processing, email delivery, customer support tools and analytics. They may only use the data to provide services to us.
- Team members on your account, who can see projects in shared workspaces.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety or property of GenieStudio, our users or others.
- A successor if GenieStudio is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets; we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses, and we ask providers to maintain appropriate security.
How long we keep information
- Account and project data: for as long as your account is open. After you close your account we delete or anonymize it within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal reasons.
- Billing records: as long as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
- Voice samples and models: until you delete them or close your account, then within 30 days.
- Logs: usually no more than 12 months.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, monitoring and regular reviews of our providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we also ask you to use a strong, unique password and to tell us immediately if you suspect a problem with your account.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. You can do most of this yourself in your account settings; for anything else, email hello@geniestudio.us. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first. You also have the right to complain to your local data‑protection authority.
Marketing emails: you can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email. We will still send service emails such as receipts and security notices.
Residents of California and other US states: we do not sell or share personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising. You may exercise the rights above through the contact address, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Residents of the EEA, UK and Switzerland: the legal bases we rely on are listed in the table above. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced them against your rights.
Children
The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service and the law change. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app.
